Yoga for Anxiety

Since the 1970s, meditation and other stress-reduction techniques have been studied as possible treatments for anxiety. Available reviews of a wide range of yoga practices suggest they can reduce the impact of exaggerated stress responses and may be helpful for both anxiety and depression. In this respect, yoga functions like other self-soothing techniques, such as meditation, relaxation, exercise, or even socializing with friends. -Harvard Medical School

Using a variety of breath practices (Pranayama), restorative Yoga shapes, mindful sequencing and a depth of knowledge drawing from certified training in Restorative Yoga, Breath work and Meditation, Shelby will lead this workshop designed to harmonize and support a sustainable mind-body balance, mitigating stress and feelings of anxiety through mindful presence and movement.

A former professional ballerina, Shelby pulls from her history of performing well under pressure, combining her degree in Psychology from Columbia University with multiple registered Yoga Teaching certifications (RYT: 500 hour Modo Yoga, 50 hour Vinyasa Flow, 45 hour Restorative/Yin Yoga, Breath work and Meditation) to provide healing classes often described as "Body Therapy." She's passionate about reconnecting people with their response-ability, the power of cultivating body-mind peace through breath, and the science-backed magic of movement.
